When in doubt, keep sharing your message

The content creation process isn’t always easy, but that doesn’t mean that what you create isn’t any good.

Yep. The creation process isn’t always straightforward + simple, as this real-life example proves…

Sometimes you can be a little bit naive about the creation process.

You reason:

If it’s going to be a “good” piece of content (blog post, presentation, webinar, course, live class, whatever) then you’re going to be 100% in the flow + inspired + on fire whilst having a dance party…

It’s not going to be a coffee-fueled struggle bus… riiight?!

Yeah. That’s not always the case.

(I mean, sure. Start content creation with music and a dance party if that’s your thing, but sometimes the whole inspiration and being in the flow thing doesn’t always follow.)

Welcome to humanity. Population: all of us.

So let’s take a bit of a reality check in the form of Behind-The-Scenes of me prepping for a speaking engagement.

The good and the bad.

The inspiration and the WHAT ON EARTH AM I DOING THIS IS THE WORST THING I’VE EVER CREATED IN MY LIFE.

Because, at one time or another, it’s like this for *all* of us.

Bottom line? Here’s the really cool thing:

If you get up there and present…

You hit publish on that video…

You teach that class…

And you 100% stand in your message + believe in what you’ve crafted, that passion and enthusiasm WILL affect the people in the room.

You’re going to have an impact.

It’s like that quote, right?

Don’t ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive and then go do that. What the world needs is people who have come alive.
— Howard Thurman

If you do that - if you stand 100% in your message, if you deliver it to the best of your ability and let your passion shine through - you’ll find that your people are hiding in unexpected places.

That particular message you thought wasn’t suited to your audience? Turns out it’s exactly what they needed to hear.

And it’s why one of the 11 ingredients in the Content Her Way Manifesto is: When in doubt, keep sharing your message.

That phase of hating what you’ve created? It’s a totally normal part of the creative process.

So keep going. You got this.
