How to introduce yourself (the fun + quirky way!)

Sick of the same old-same old introduction that you post on social media and in paid membership groups? Let’s put a fun + quirky spin on your introduction with the Movie Trailer Intro™️…

You up for something fun?

In this post, I'm sharing one of my fave activities to help you write an introduction that's both quirky AND useful. (It's also a great conversation starter!)

I came up with this idea after too many same-same #FridayIntroductions posts on Instagram. I figured, if I was bored with my intro, other people would DEFINITELY be sick of it. 🤦🏻‍♀️

So if you're looking for a fun + unique way to introduce yourself in Facebook Groups, on social media or even your email welcome sequence, give this fun activity a try!

Introducing The Movie Trailer Intro™️…

The idea of The Movie Trailer Intro is to think about your life and business as if it were a movie and then create the trailer for that movie.

Its purpose? It’s a fun way to introduce yourself AND it also helps to give you an overview of what you + your biz stand for and love.

(And if you've got the Content Her Way Planner + Workbook, you'll know that The Movie Trailer Intro ties a neat little bow around the prep-work section and puts it in a fun form that you can actually use 💃🏻)

Ready to get started? Here's the deets:

Name: The Movie Trailer Intro™️

You'll need: An internet connection (for research), your fave writing tools or Google Docs/Pages/Word/Notion, some good tunes + your beverage of choice.

Time required: 10-15 minutes

Step 1: Have a read through my Movie Trailer Intro below for some inspiration:

"In the midst of suburban Australia, a young woman called Brogan devoted herself to one task… the business of content and creativity.

"Through the perilous rollercoaster of entrepreneurship, while collecting an assortment of friends along the way, can she convince fellow business owners that content and creativity doesn’t have to be a time-consuming, fun-sucking chore and help them hone the art of creating content their way?

"Starring Brogan Micallef (as herself), Jane Austen (in the form of countless novels scattered about), the local library (ALL THE BOOKS), her trusty Apple products, a dash of sci-fi and the wonder that’s the internet, Content Her Way is a timeless content-creating classic (no trends or fancy, time-wasting bandwagons here)."

Sometimes, I’ll also include the people who’d star in my movie (aka supportive biz friends and mentors):

"Who would star in your life’s movie?!"I also have to mention my trusty sidekicks @ashleycox.co and @modern_planner. Plus special guest appearances from @nicolewalters (epic business training and encouragement) and @melissa.cassera (making sure we keep it caffeinated + full of fun)."

Step 2: Watch a bunch of movie trailers on YouTube for some inspiration.

Listen to what’s said in the voiceover and/or the text that comes up on screen. What elements are similar across all trailers? What aspects do you love?

Pro tip: Limit yourself to 3-5 movie trailers. Otherwise, you’ll fall down the never-ending rabbit hole of all the latest blockbusters. Not to mention those childhood faves you’ve long forgotten about!

Step 3: Sharpen your pencil, grab your pen + warm up those typing fingers! It’s time to create your own.

You can follow my template (as used above):

"In the midst of ______________ [location/landscape/space], a ______________ [describe yourself] devoted herself to one task… ______________ [your main business purpose/mission].

"Through the ______________ [struggles you're facing/space you work in], while ______________ [collecting an assortment of friends along the way/figuring out how the heck to beat the technology gremlins], can she convince ______________ [your target audience] that ______________ [your area of expertise] doesn’t have to be ______________ [your client's problems/struggles] and help them ______________ [your solution to your client's problems/struggles]?

"Starring ______________ [your name] (as her/himself), ______________, ______________, ______________, ______________ [things that you love + need to do run your business] and the wonder that’s the internet, ______________ [the name of your movie] is a ______________ [timeless classic/genre-breaking masterpiece/family-friendly rom com/Greek tragedy]."

OR pay attention to the format of the trailers you just watched and create your own template.

Please remember to have fun with this activity.

Your Movie Trailer Intro doesn’t have to be perfect. You don’t even have to share it publicly if you don’t want to.

Think of it as a way to clarify and solidify your purpose into your brain. All whilst having a little fun.

I hope you enjoy creating your brand new intro! And be sure to share it with me (email me at: hello@broganmicallef.com) if you create one of your own 💃🏻👌🏼
